Xbox’s Disc-to-Digital beta has moved past its first Ubisoft block. Eight games that failed the initial checks now grant digital licenses. Video Games Chronicle’s September 9 retest of 56 Xbox One discs found successful conversions for Assassin’s Creed Unity, The Division 2, Far Cry 4, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Shape Up, Trackmania Turbo, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, and the 2-in-1 Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy pack.
Each of those entries failed during the feature’s initial rollout to Xbox Insiders. The result reverses the first-week compatibility check, when Ubisoft discs were failing alongside games from Square Enix, Sega, and Bandai Namco.
Xbox’s beta still has publisher and title-level limits
The feature began reaching Xbox Insiders on August 31, 2026, and remains limited to that group. With a compatible Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S disc inserted, players can claim a digital license and play the game without leaving the disc in the drive. The entitlement can also let owners of the disc-free Xbox Series S access supported releases. Xbox Play Anywhere and cloud streaming provide additional access for compatible titles where available, but the physical disc is still required to establish the license.
43 of 56 discs now receive licenses
Across the 56 Xbox One discs retested, 43 now grant digital licenses, up from 35 during the first check. Remaining failures include Activision’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Guitar Hero Live, Angry Birds Star Wars, Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts 3, and Microsoft’s Forza Motorsport 5.
Publisher alone does not determine the result. Disney Infinity 2.0 failed while Disney Infinity 3.0 passed, and NBA Live 14 did not work even though most other legacy EA Sports titles succeeded.
The community database still needs Ubisoft updates
The XCT.live community database tracked 1,870 titles at the time of the retest, with 1,454 confirmed working, 284 confirmed incompatible, and 108 still unconfirmed. Its Ubisoft entries had not all been updated, so some games remained marked as incompatible even after passing the new check.
Delisting does not automatically block a conversion. Physical copies of Deadpool, F1 2021, Minecraft: Story Mode, Rock Band 4, and Titanfall have produced digital licenses despite delisting. Players still need the original disc to establish the license, and a successful conversion does not return the game to the Xbox Store for new purchases.
Publisher approval, licensing arrangements, and other checks continue to determine which games join the program, so the compatibility list can change during the Insider test.
