Forza Horizon 6’s PS5 launch may now be delayed to early 2027, despite Playground Games reaffirming a later-2026 release window just one day earlier. Playground Games had just reaffirmed a later-2026 PS5 release window in its Series 5 update, as detailed in Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release window confirmed.
Tom Warren wrote in his paywalled Notepad newsletter on The Verge that Microsoft is planning a slight delay, citing sources familiar with Playground Games’ plans. Warren tied the timing to the first expansion for Forza Horizon 6 and expects the PS5 version to arrive before the game reaches its 12-month anniversary.

That claim conflicts with Playground Games’ latest public message. In its Series 5 update, the studio said Forza Horizon 6 would release on PS5 later in 2026 and reminded players that they could add it to their PlayStation Store wishlists. No exact launch date has been announced.
The new claim also goes further than Warren’s August 27 expectation that the PS5 edition would miss 2026. At that point, the official target remained unchanged, as covered in our earlier PS5 release update. Early 2027 is now being presented as the potential timing, although Microsoft and Playground Games have not confirmed a delay.
For now, PS5 players are left with two conflicting timelines. The public window still points to later in 2026, while Warren’s sources indicate that the port could move into the first months of 2027 to line up with the game’s first expansion.
