Fortnite 42.10 Is Under Investigation After Reports of Higher Island Memory Usage

Fortnite Status has not shared a cause, workaround, or timeline for more information about the issue.

Reports of higher island memory usage after Fortnite’s 42.10 update have prompted an investigation by Fortnite Status. The notice does not confirm what caused the increase or whether every island is affected.

Fortnite Status has not shared a workaround, fix, or timeline for the next update. For now, the team has only said that it will provide more information when it has a clearer picture of the problem.

The issue follows v42.10, the update connected to OG Season X content in our Fortnite v42.10 downtime coverage. The current notice stops short of saying that the update caused the memory increase, so the investigation will need to establish whether the timing reflects a direct connection.

Until Fortnite Status shares more details, there is no confirmed fix for islands experiencing higher memory usage. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, or Telegram.
