Once Human is now available on Xbox Series X|S through Xbox Game Pass, bringing Starry Studio’s free-to-play survival shooter and its member perks to Microsoft’s current consoles. The studio confirmed the release in an Xbox Wire announcement.
The Game Pass availability follows the console launch on Aug. 25. Players can connect through cross-play, carry their progress across supported versions with cross-progression, and use Xbox Play Anywhere. The game also remains free to play and does not use pay-to-win mechanics. Our console launch coverage detailed the wider rollout and its cross-platform features.
Once Human places players in the post-apocalyptic world of Nalcott, where an extraterrestrial substance called Stardust has transformed people, animals, and objects into dangerous anomalies. As Meta-Humans, players establish territories, gather materials, craft equipment, fight Deviants, and uncover the truth behind the apocalypse. The game currently offers more than 300 hours of content.
Survival also includes capturing and taming Deviations. These anomalous companions can assist in combat, help with resource gathering, provide defensive support for a territory, or offer abilities such as levitation for crossing difficult terrain. Players can switch between first-person and third-person perspectives at any time, giving the Xbox version another way to handle combat and travel.

Game Pass Rewards and the Ocean Expansion
Game Pass members can claim an Exclusive Avatar, a METAPASS Benefit Card with 300 star sources, 30-day benefits, and access to 14+ outfits. The rewards also include a Discount Voucher Bundle and Battle Pass XP Cards, while monthly updates will bring free outfits.
The next major update will arrive in October with the Ocean Expansion, which the studio describes as its biggest content update so far. It will take survival across islands, the ocean surface, and the deep sea, adding encounters with ghost ships, mechanical behemoths, and strange lighthouses. Players will also be able to build an Exclusive Sea Fortress, upgrading it from a basic wooden raft into a mobile base on the water.
