XBOX is expanding beyond consoles and PCs, with the XBOX app coming to select TCL Smart TVs in the coming months. The app will let players stream supported games directly from their televisions through XBOX Cloud Gaming.
The partnership is expected to give millions of TCL TV users across more than 25 countries another way to access the XBOX ecosystem. XBOX shared the news in an Xbox Wire announcement, though it did not name the supported TCL models or provide a more specific launch date.
Players will need a supported TCL Smart TV, a supported controller, and cloud playtime through an XBOX Game Pass subscription or a separate purchase. Eligible subscribers will also have access to an instant library of cloud-playable games, including major releases, established franchises, and indie titles.
Progress and social features will carry across the wider XBOX ecosystem. Games, friends, achievements, and saves will remain available when players move between a supported TCL Smart TV, an XBOX console, and PC, giving the app a familiar starting point for anyone already using the service.
More TCL televisions could make cloud gaming easier to try without adding another dedicated gaming device to the living room. For now, the partnership is limited to select models, and XBOX has not shared the final compatibility list or launch timing.
