GTA 6’s November 19 launch remains on schedule, Rockstar North co-lead says

Rob Nelson said Rockstar hoped the August 27 Netflix extended look would ease quality worries while the team keeps improving stability and smooth performance.

Grand Theft Auto VI is still scheduled for November 19, 2026, and Rockstar North co-lead Rob Nelson said the game will arrive on time. His comment came after the August 27 Netflix extended look, which gave viewers their first extended look at the game’s gameplay.

In a Famitsu interview, Nelson was asked whether the November launch would hold. He answered with a laugh, saying Rockstar had hoped the presentation would calm worries about the game’s quality: “It was our hope that people wouldn’t be worried about the quality [after watching the extended look]. We’re really pleased. Also, it will be released on time.”

Rockstar North is still refining performance

Nelson also described GTA VI’s development as a complex design in which many systems are working together. He praised the team’s collaborative effort and said the studio is working every day to improve the game’s stability and smooth operation ahead of launch.

Two delays created the release-date concern Nelson was addressing. Rockstar first moved the game from 2025 to 2026. The next delay pushed the launch from May 26 to November 19, adding six months to the wait.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has also repeated his confidence in the November target, a position covered in our coverage of the delay outlook. Nelson’s assurance now gives the date backing from Rockstar North as well. Unless plans change, players will head to Vice City on November 19.
