Forza Horizon 6’s Drift Attack Will Turn Shimanoyama Into a Tire-Smoke Arena

The permanent circuit will reward Clipping Zones, support solo and Convoy runs, and add a 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition to the campaign.

Forza Horizon 6 will give drifting its own permanent shared-world destination when Drift Attack arrives with the next series update on September 7, 2026. Players will be able to enter the Shimanoyama Circuit directly from the open world, start a run at the gantry, and chase high scores without a loading screen.

Playground Games detailed the plans in its Steam announcement, which also previews a British Automotive celebration for September and a 7-Eleven collaboration planned for October.

Drift Attack brings score chasing to Shimanoyama

Drift Attack will sit somewhere between the freedom of Drift Zones and the competitive feel of Horizon Drift. Drivers can slide around the circuit alone, with a Convoy, or alongside other players they meet in the Shared World.

The mode will have its own map icon at Shimanoyama Circuit, which is being converted into a permanent Drift Attack venue. Entering through the gantry will begin the activity, and players can keep completing laps without a lap limit.

Scoring will focus on drift points instead of the fastest lap time. Clipping Zones placed around the arena will boost the points earned when a car stays inside their boundaries during a drift. Clean lines and careful positioning should be just as important as keeping the slide alive.

Drift Attack will also include in-world and Convoy Leaderboards. The menu leaderboard options will add Drivetrains against each Drift Attack leaderboard entry, giving players another way to compare their runs.

A Jaguar reward will be tied to the Horizon Festival Campaign

The new activity will connect to the Horizon Festival Campaign. Unlocking the Yellow Wristband will open Drift Attack, while campaign progress can lead to the fully customized 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition. A stock version of the Jaguar will also join the Autoshow for players who want to purchase it.

Shimanoyama’s circuit will remain in the game permanently, but Playground Games also plans to add Evolving World Drift Attacks in later series updates. Those rotating events will give the mode new places to visit beyond its first dedicated venue.

British Automotive starts on September 10

The September update will keep the wheels turning after Drift Attack launches. A British Automotive celebration will begin on September 10, 2026, with a takeover at the dealership featuring deals on rare and iconic British cars.

The Festival Playlist will offer 3 British cars making their Horizon debut, while Car Pass owners can expect 4 additional new-to-Horizon cars in their garages.

The October 2026 series update will bring the announced 7-Eleven Evolving World and an EventLab Content Pack created through the Forza Feedback Portal. Playground Games plans to share more information when those additions release.

Gamescom attendees will also be able to try Drift Attack early at the XBOX booth. A vehicle wrapped in a 7-Eleven livery will be available for photos, while the LEGO® booth will feature LEGO® Technic™ cars.

Drift Attack will put the focus on long slides, precise clipping, and leaderboard scores when it arrives. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram for more gaming news.
