GIANTS Software Says Farming Simulator 25 Mods Must Stay Free

The developer allows donations and creator monetization but rejects paid memberships, VIP access, and paid downloads for mods.

GIANTS Software has made its position on Farming Simulator mods clear: players should never have to pay to access a mod. The developer published its statement on August 24, 2026, in a Steam statement that lays out what modders can monetize and where the company draws the line.

Modding remains a major part of the Farming Simulator community, and GIANTS Software says it recognizes the time and creativity that creators put into their work. Modders can accept donations, build communities, earn money from videos and other content, and benefit from opportunities connected to the official ModHub.

Those options cannot make the mod itself paywalled, though. A player’s willingness or ability to spend money should not decide whether they can download and use a community creation.

Which paid mod practices GIANTS Software prohibits

GIANTS Software specifically rejects several methods of charging for access or giving paying users preferential treatment:

  • Patreon or other paid memberships
  • Paid Discord roles or channels
  • “VIP” access
  • Paid early access
  • Requiring donations before a download is available
  • Shops or marketplaces selling individual mods or mod packs
  • Restricted download speeds
  • Paid downloads or extra paid assets, including shaders and textures

That means a creator can ask for voluntary financial support, but a donation cannot act as a ticket to the download. Early builds, private channels, and faster access cannot be reserved for paying members either.

The statement also arrives after Farming Simulator 25 Patch 1.21 fixes addressed mod downloads, modding tools, and other community-created content issues. GIANTS Software’s latest message focuses less on technical support and more on keeping the wider mod ecosystem open to everyone.

The developer says it will continue looking for ways to support and reward modders without putting their creations behind a payment gate. Its closing principle is simple: “Support creators. Reward great modding. Keep mods free.”
