Flight Simulator 2024’s Sim Update 6 Is Live Ahead of Anniversary Flights
The team also scheduled three globe-spanning community flights departing Bordeaux on August 17, August 19, and August 21.
Sim Update 6 is now available for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on all platforms. The Microsoft Flight Simulator team used its August 13 weekly briefing to recap the release and outline several anniversary events planned for the coming days.
Sim Update 6 brings back bush trips
The update restores bush trips, adds support for Nvidia DLSS 4.5, updates a wide range of aircraft, and includes thousands of bug fixes and other improvements. Its release follows the public testing detailed in the August 6 briefing.
Three flights will celebrate the sixth anniversary
Microsoft Flight Simulator will reach its sixth anniversary on August 18, marking six years since its August 18, 2020 launch. To celebrate, the team will host three livestreamed group flights that circumnavigate the globe.
Each flight will depart from Bordeaux, the home of Asobo Studio, and travel eastbound with special guest co-hosts joining the broadcasts. Hardware prizes will also be awarded during the livestreams, but viewers must be present in Twitch chat to qualify.

The anniversary flights will give the community a chance to take part in one long journey rather than three unrelated group sessions, with each broadcast continuing the eastbound trip around the planet.
The Boeing 707 returns alongside a backcountry fly-in
Earlier this week, Famous Flyer 10: Boeing 707-320C returned to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The aircraft was rebuilt through a collaboration between iniBuilds and Working Title, and the developers recently discussed its new features during a livestream with Community Manager Chewwy94 and Working Title’s Chris Burnett.

This week’s Community Fly-In Friday will take pilots into the backcountry around Bella Coola in British Columbia. Community Manager SeedyL and guest co-host SimFlightPro will be joined by Got Friends, which will preview its upcoming Taylorcraft BC-12D.
The briefing also suggested Man’s Best Friend: Deluxe as an optional Marketplace add-on for the flight. Purchasing it is not required to participate.
Gamescom mixer planned for August 29
The team will attend Gamescom 2026 later this month and host a B.A.R. Community Mixer on Saturday, August 29. The event is intended for flight simulation fans, developers, content creators, and members of the MSFS team who will be in Cologne or attending the show. Players can register their interest through the event form.
The Rafale takes on the Mach Loop
The weekly community video features the AzurPoly Dassault Rafale making a high-speed run through the Mach Loop in a production from FlightSim Experience.
A new screenshot challenge is also dedicated to the sixth anniversary, following last week’s high-pressure landing theme. The previous challenge winner was Takeru_Toys.
