Helldivers 2 is now available through the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium members, while the Devoid of Liberty update has also gone live on August 12, 2026. PlayStation confirmed the paired launch in its August 12 PlayStation Blog announcement.
The update sends squads toward the Void, where the Illuminate have altered nearby planets with strange mutations. The closer Helldivers get to the Void, the more severe those changes become, turning reconnaissance missions into a particularly dangerous trip through unfamiliar territory.
Game Catalog availability can differ by region, so Extra and Premium subscribers should check their local lineup before deploying. Console play also requires internet access and a paid subscription sold separately.
What Devoid of Liberty adds
Operations in the new area include destroying Illuminate spires and gateways, collecting reconnaissance data, and infiltrating Illuminate structures. Additional objectives ask squads to eliminate Void mutations, recover research materials, and open a second extraction zone that may provide a faster escape route.
The update also introduces two mutated enemies. The Wretch is fast enough to catch unprepared Helldivers off guard, dodging counterattacks while closing the distance. The Crusher can absorb heavy punishment, deal plenty of damage in return, and regenerate if squads do not finish the job.
These additions are part of the wider changes covered in our Devoid of Liberty update breakdown, which also details the new battlefield support and progression changes.
SEAF troops raise the rank ceiling
Progression now reaches 300 ranks, with new titles and security privileges available along the way. Helldivers will not be heading into the Void alone, either: SEAF platoons can arrive by dropship and fight alongside squads.
SEAF support can provide medical assistance through stims, while friendly interactions such as salutes, handshakes, and hugs give the battlefield a rare moment of morale-boosting camaraderie. Even in the middle of an Illuminate invasion, apparently, there is still time for a quick hug.
500 million enemies stand between players and four avatars
The community also has a collective target to chase. Players have until August 18, 2026, to eliminate 500 million enemies and unlock four Helldiver PlayStation avatars.
Helldivers 2 Super Merch is available as well. Completing in-game achievements can unlock merchandise through the program, although the service is limited to certain regions.
