Light No Fire Is Still Cooking as Hello Games Celebrates a Decade of No Man’s Sky
Sean Murray also mentioned a future COSMOS update for No Man's Sky, while sharing no release date for Light No Fire.

Light No Fire is still in development at Hello Games, according to Sean Murray, who provided a brief status note on August 10, 2026, as No Man’s Sky marked its 10th anniversary.
After a troubled launch, Hello Games spent the following decade supporting No Man’s Sky with free content and updates. That run now includes nearly 40 free updates, as covered in No Man’s Sky’s decade of updates.
The anniversary message also pointed to more content for the space exploration game, including a future COSMOS update. No timing or further details were shared, but the mention makes it clear that Hello Games is not finished with No Man’s Sky yet.
Light No Fire, meanwhile, has been mostly out of the public eye since its reveal at The Game Awards in December 2023. More than two and a half years later, Murray said the team is still working on the project behind the scenes. Hello Games did not provide a release date or a new showing alongside the anniversary message.
In an anniversary post, Murray summed up the milestone with, “Ten Years! Ten. TEN!” before thanking the players who stayed with No Man’s Sky through its long journey.

Light No Fire will focus on one enormous planet
While No Man’s Sky sends players across a galaxy, Light No Fire will center its adventure on a single procedurally generated planet. Players will be able to meet others, discover varied biomes, battle enemies, gather resources, and survive together.
The project will also let players build persistent structures and communities, or head out alone and leave discoveries behind for other people to find. It is an ambitious follow-up to Hello Games’ space sandbox, but the studio is still keeping most of the game under wraps.
