Tailbreak is now available on Xbox Series X|S and PC through Xbox Play Anywhere, giving dinosaur-blasting fans a new arcade-style shooter to tackle alone or with a friend. Dead Drop Studios confirmed the launch in Xbox Wire’s announcement. The game costs $24.99 USD through the Xbox Store page.
Serving as a follow-up to Railbreak and a retelling of DINOBREAK, Tailbreak sends Alex and Rin into Cypress Ridge while dinosaurs tear through the city. Its on-rails action brings a classic light-gun feel to a fully voiced, six-act story, with solo play and local two-player co-op available across the game.

Keep moving through Cypress Ridge
Every corner can hide something useful, so shooting glowing boxes, barrels, and other scenery is part of staying alive. Inventory space is limited to two items, which means carrying a grenade may leave no room for healing supplies or ammo. Picking the right moment to spend those items can make the difference between clearing a screen and becoming a dinosaur snack.
Red dino eggs are especially handy when a combo is about to disappear. Activating one adds several levels to the egg chain and can help protect a high score. Better scores unlock weapons and upgrades faster, giving each run more room to grow.

Mutation Matrix turns every run into a surprise
Once Alex and Rin’s story has been played, the Mutation Matrix offers a semi-procedurally generated mode that randomizes enemies, weapons, items, and other parts of each encounter. Players can set up runs focused on dinosaurs, undead enemies, or a mix that also includes mutated monsters.
High scores unlock more starting weapons and abilities, while sidearms can gain higher levels during a run. The Succubus handgun becomes available after reaching a cumulative 36,000 points and restores health when it takes down enemies. A total high score of 48,000 unlocks a level-three shotgun. Higher-level sidearms can deal more damage, carry larger magazines, and provide bigger score multipliers.
Those upgrades eventually lead to Primal Difficulty, where the game turns the danger up to an especially punishing level. It is the sort of mode where one greedy attempt at a bigger combo can end with a very fast trip to the dinosaur buffet.

Tailbreak supports Xbox Play Anywhere
On Xbox Series X|S, Tailbreak uses Unreal Engine 5.7 for ray-traced lighting across Cypress Ridge. A powerful PC can run the game at high framerates with extra visual options, while Xbox Play Anywhere also brings the shooter to the Xbox ROG Ally X handheld.
With dinosaurs, zombies, score chasing, and two-player co-op all packed into the same arcade cabinet, Tailbreak has plenty of ways to turn a quick session into one more run. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow along on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
