Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is now playable on PC through an unofficial port from BlackLabelHQ. The project is currently in beta, but its full adventure can already be played from beginning to end.
The port uses a mix of recompilation and decompilation work to bring the PS1 classic to current PCs while addressing some of the restrictions tied to the original console version. The current build also supports widescreen resolutions and includes a built-in randomizer. Since this is still a beta release, players may run into bugs before the project reaches version 1.0.
What the PC port requires
The build does not include any of the game’s original assets. Players will need to provide their own PS1 ROM, and the project currently supports only the North American PSX version.
BlackLabelHQ has published the beta through the SymphonyRecomp releases page. The port does not provide a ROM, so no ROM download is included with the project.
The PS1 recompilation is also discussed in a dedicated video about the release.
