Pokémon Gamma Emerald Will Enter Early Access on August 15
The free fan project remakes Pokémon Emerald in HD-2D with dynamic weather, a day-and-night cycle, and custom Gym leader battle themes.

Pokémon Gamma Emerald, a fan-made reimagining of the classic Pokémon Emerald, will enter early access on August 15, 2026. The project comes from a single creator, which is why the first release will arrive before the game is fully finished.
With no official Pokémon remake announced for the near future, creator UndreamedPanic has spent more than two years rebuilding the 2004 adventure in Unreal Engine. Work on the project began on January 19, 2024.
The project keeps the familiar Emerald foundation but adds a fresh visual style and several new gameplay touches. Pokémon Gamma Emerald will feature:
- New assets
- Dynamic weather
- A day-and-night cycle
- Distinct battle themes for every Gym leader
The creator first showed the remake in a YouTube development video, followed by more updates during production.
The early-access build will be free. Players will be able to get it through UndreamedPanic’s Itch page or the project’s Game Jolt page.
UndreamedPanic has also shared an early-access video showing more of the remake’s battles and presentation.
Pokémon Gamma Emerald is an unofficial fan project and is not an official Pokémon release from Game Freak or Nintendo. Still, its HD-2D approach gives the Hoenn adventure a very different look from the original game.
