Borderlands 4 Weekly Roundup Covers Version 1.9, FL4K, and More Kairos Chaos

The latest community update recaps new Pearlescent drop sources, Bounty Pack 4, Story Pack 2, a narrative podcast, and fan creations.

Borderlands 4 received another weekly community roundup covering the Version 1.9 update, Bounty Pack 4, the upcoming return of FL4K, and more activities across Kairos. The full update appeared in an official Steam post from the Borderlands Community Team.

Version 1.9 Adds New Pearlescent Targets

Version 1.9 released on July 30 with new gear and a clearer path toward several high-end weapons. Eight Pearlescent weapons that arrived in Version 1.7 now have dedicated drop sources, giving Vault Hunters specific bosses to farm instead of relying only on general world drops.

  • Solar Temper — Timekeeper
  • Locust — Idolator Sol
  • Unkempt Herald — Vault Guardian Inceptus
  • Juliets Sparkle — Callis
  • Abyss — Vile Lictor
  • Screwstonian — Vault Guardian Origo
  • Constable — Bloomreaper
  • Gomie — Thol

The update also added two new Pearlescent guns and one Legendary weapon with dedicated sources. Vault Guardian Radix drops the new Pearlescent Gun, Subjugator is another new Pearlescent Gun, and activity bosses can drop the new Legendary Gun, Ordonite Generator. The dedicated sources came with lower world drop rates for the affected weapons.

Players looking for the complete list of Version 1.9 changes can also use the official Borderlands 4 update notes. A separate Version 1.9 breakdown covers the update’s wider fix list and new content.

Bounty Pack 4 Brings the Flock and the Blasphemers

Bounty Pack 4: Murders and Acquisitions sends Levaine and the Electi toward the Toxic Scowl, a polluted desert canyon where The Flock has established a peaceful Ripper commune. Their attempt at a quieter life runs into trouble when The Blasphemers, a violent Ripper faction, seize a nearby Order facility.

The pack adds one Pearlescent weapon and six Legendary gear pieces. Bounty Pack 4 is divided into two parts. Murders and Acquisitions contains a repeatable mission, while Vault Card 4 provides rewards earned through gameplay. Both parts are included with the Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack Bundle, Deluxe Edition, and Super Deluxe Edition. They are also available separately, with the base game required.

FL4K Returns on September 10

Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort will launch on September 10 alongside Loveless the Hacker and Bounty Pack 5. The returning beastmaster is searching for the missing skag companion Mr. Chew, a trail that leads to a volcanic resort covered by dense jungle growth.

The resort is also where Tediore begins the early stages of a covert invasion. FL4K was a playable Vault Hunter in Borderlands 3, but the new story will use the character as the focal-point NPC for this narrative content. The announcement also notes changes to FL4K’s hunting attire, including an animal skull and feathers.

Dead ECHOs Episode 2 Is Available

Episode 2 of Borderlands: Dead ECHOs continues the dark comedy surrounding Watts and Junie. The pair is still trying to make their unusual partnership work while DAHL-related danger grows around them. The episode introduces the Postmaster and adds more schemes involving code names, counterfeit firearms, air ducts, and fantasy cruises.

Borderlands: Dead ECHOs is Gearbox’s first scripted narrative podcast. The limited series follows Watts, a DAHL ECHO Operator who sells secrets recovered from undeliverable ECHO logs, and Junie, a stranger who gives his small-time operation a Robin Hood twist. The second episode is available through Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, iHeart Radio, and Pandora.
