Fallout 76 Lowers Infestation Boss Health as More Changes Head for Fall
The upcoming Fall update will add a kill objective, refresh rewards, replace the map indicator, and introduce new visibility and fast-travel options.

Fallout 76 received an Infestations balance adjustment on July 31, 2026, with the main change focused on reducing boss health. Bethesda also outlined several Infestations updates planned for the Fall update, including new rewards, a different way to summon the boss, and options for players who want fewer notifications. The details appear in the game’s official Steam announcement.
The immediate health reduction follows feedback that the previous boss tuning made encounters take too long without providing enough additional rewards for the time and resources involved. The lower health is intended to keep the fights active while leaving enough time for other players to join and earn rewards.
Fallout 76 Infestations Balance Adjustment Patch Notes
The July 31 adjustment lowers Infestations boss HP. The Fall update will then add a requirement to clear enemies before summoning the boss, along with reward changes, a new visual marker, an opt-out setting, and free fast travel to teammates already inside an Infestation.
Happening Now
- Decreased Infestations Boss Health
We are lightly decreasing boss HP. With this change we expect that the fights won’t feel as sluggish for most players while still allowing the boss to live long enough for more people to join in the fun and get rewarded for it.
Coming this Fall
- Clear Out the Enemies Meta Objective
When the Fall update releases, you will have to find and kill Infestations enemies to summon the boss. This change works in conjunction with the HP decrease above. - Updating Rewards
We’re planning a small refresh to the reward pool, including increases in ammo drops, guaranteeing legendary items from mobs, and a chance for the boss to drop mod boxes. - Infestation Smoke Visual
We’ll be swapping out the green circle on the map and replacing it with a new smoke visual to indicate where an Infestation is in a more world accurate way. - QOL: Infestations Visibility Setting and Free Fast Travel
If you’ve had your fill of Infestations, we’re adding a setting that allows you to turn off notifications as well as the visual overlays. Fast traveling to teammates already in an Infestation will become free as well.
The reward refresh is planned to include more ammunition, guaranteed legendary items from mobs, and a chance for Infestation bosses to drop mod boxes. The Fall update will also replace the green map circle with smoke designed to fit the game world more naturally.
Players will be able to disable Infestations notifications and visual overlays if they no longer want to see them. Free fast travel to teammates already participating in an Infestation will arrive alongside that setting.
