Mortal Shell 2 has opened a free console beta on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S ahead of the dark action RPG’s full launch on August 20, 2026.
PlayStack and Cold Symmetry released the beta with less than three weeks remaining before launch. It gives console players a chance to sample the game’s opening hours, including the Prologue and an early part of its open world.
What the Mortal Shell 2 beta includes
The trial goes beyond the opening story setup. Players can cleanse beacons, enter optional dungeons, find hidden mini-bosses, complete challenges, and face Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods.
Anyone who plays the beta will receive the exclusive Flayed Harbinger cosmetic when the full game launches. Some progress will also carry forward. Players who move beyond Marrow Keep will not have to repeat the Prologue after the release.
That carryover does not apply to beta save data. Currency, weapons, Shells, collectibles, and other items gathered during the trial will be reset, keeping the full launch economy and progression intact.
The beta is available to download now on both supported Xbox Series consoles and PlayStation 5. Mortal Shell 2 will launch on August 20, 2026.
