Overwatch 2 July 30 patch tunes tanks for the upcoming 6v6 test

The Quick Play Hacked changes also apply to Open Queue during the limited-time weekend mode.

Blizzard’s July 30 retail patch notes for Overwatch 2 focus on the upcoming Quick Play Hacked mode, which will test several elements of 6v6 gameplay. The changes reduce the penalty applied to in-combat healing, adjust multiple tank cooldowns, and weaken several self-sustaining sub-roles.

The tank updates aim to give these heroes more frequent access to defensive tools, while shorter ability durations should keep two-tank teams from stacking too much protection. Blizzard also confirmed that the changes will apply to Open Queue during the Quick Play Hacked weekend.

The full notes are available through Blizzard’s July 30 Overwatch patch notes.

Patch Notes: Overwatch Retail Patch – July 30, 2026

This update is limited to a specific game mode unless otherwise noted. Its main effects are a lower In-Combat Healing reduction, stronger ultimate-charge reduction against tank targets, several sub-role adjustments, and shorter cooldowns for select tank abilities.

Limited-Time Mode Specific Updates

The following patch notes are applicable only to a specific, limited-time game mode. The documented changes do not apply to pre-existing queues, unless otherwise noted.

Hero Updates

For the upcoming Quick Play Hacked, we’re making several balance changes to test elements of 6v6 gameplay. The In-Combat Healing reduction has been lowered for all heroes to evaluate the impact of increased healing across the board while reducing the effectiveness of several self-sustaining sub-roles.

We’re also reducing several Tank defensive cooldowns to improve gameplay flow for these heroes. To offset the increased availability of these abilities, their durations have been shortened where appropriate to avoid creating too many defensive cooldowns with two tanks available.

These changes will also be active within Open Queue throughout the Quick Play Hacked weekend.
