God of War Laufey will launch on PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027, giving Sony Santa Monica’s next action game a firm place on an already crowded release calendar.
The date was announced during a San Diego Comic-Con panel led by Sony Santa Monica creative head Cory Barlog. The accompanying social post also confirmed the February 16, 2027 launch and showed a brief golden logo. The game is available to wishlist through the PlayStation Store, though Sony has not shared pre-order details or pricing yet.

Unlike the recent entries in the series, God of War Laufey does not place Kratos at the center of the story. Players will follow Faye, the character whose death formed a major part of the 2018 game’s opening, as she journeys through an afterlife populated by gods. That setup could also bring her into contact with figures Kratos fought during his earlier adventures.
PlayStation previously showed an extended portion of the game’s opening, including its combat direction and aerial attacks. The February launch window arrives only a few months after that reveal, giving players a clearer idea of when this new chapter will be available.
February 2027 is filling up quickly
God of War Laufey will enter a busy month for major releases. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is scheduled for February 12, followed by Persona 4 Revival on February 18. Xbox’s Fable reboot is scheduled for February 23.
The crowded calendar follows the planned launch period for Grand Theft Auto VI, which is expected to draw plenty of attention before these February releases arrive. With Faye taking the lead and a new setting at the heart of the story, Sony Santa Monica’s game will have a distinct identity within the lineup.
