Avatar Legends’ Xbox Launch Gets Pushed Back at the Last Minute

Paramount said the Xbox Series X|S version will launch by September 3, while the Switch version will initially lack crossplay and Deluxe Edition upgrades.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will not launch on Xbox Series X|S as planned. Paramount announced the delay just hours before the game’s scheduled July 23 release, citing an issue with a backend feature.

The Xbox Series X|S version will now launch by September 3. Paramount did not provide a firm release date, so Xbox players may have to wait several weeks before they can start playing.

PlayStation 5 and PC versions were not affected by the delay. The Nintendo Switch version also has changes at launch. Paramount said Switch players will initially have access only to the Standard Edition, with crossplay and the ability to upgrade to the Deluxe Edition arriving “as soon as possible.”

The announcement came through Paramount’s post on X, which blamed the Xbox delay on “unforeseen circumstances on a backend feature.” The post also confirmed that existing pre-orders will remain active rather than being cancelled.

That means anyone who no longer wants the Xbox version will need to cancel their pre-order directly. Players on PlayStation 5 and PC can still expect the game according to the original release plans, while Switch buyers face a more limited version at launch.

The last-minute Xbox delay leaves the game’s cross-platform rollout looking uneven. Xbox players are waiting for a new date, and Switch players will have to wait for crossplay and Deluxe Edition support.
