In a Steam post for STALCRAFT: X, EXBO marked 12 years in the Zone and said the game has gone through two name changes and seven distinct development stages. The studio described that run as a mix of player feedback, constant changes, and a game that kept growing into something hard to pin down.
The bigger change is happening behind the scenes. EXBO said it spent the summer moving from a loose, all-purpose structure to dedicated workstreams, with separate teams now handling onboarding, core systems, live-service support, endgame, and monetization. The goal is simple enough: cut down bottlenecks and give the game a steadier plan for at least the next year.
EXBO also said players should feel the results by the end of 2026, with updates aimed more directly at the pain points that have built up over time. That comes after a recent run of Zone changes, including a June 17 STALCRAFT: X patch that refreshed lighting and South Zone content.
