Ubisoft details the PS5 Pro boost for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

The July 9 launch includes 60 FPS modes on both PS5 models, with updated PSSR and broader ray tracing on PS5 Pro.

Ubisoft used a June 29 PlayStation Blog post to spell out how Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will run on PS5 and PS5 Pro when it launches on July 9. The studio said the project was built on the latest Anvil engine rather than treated like a simple remaster, with 60 FPS options, HDR, Dolby Atmos, and DualSense haptics in the mix.

The console split is pretty clear. On base PS5, the game will offer Performance, Fidelity, and Balanced modes with 2160p upscaled output, 60 FPS in Performance, 30 FPS in Fidelity, and 40 FPS in Balanced. Ray tracing stays standard in Performance and moves to extended use in the other two presets. On PS5 Pro, the same frame-rate targets return, but the image will be upscaled with enhanced PSSR and ray tracing will be extended across every mode.

Ubisoft also said PS5 Pro owners will get the more demanding version of its lighting and reflection work across the board. Ray-Traced Global Illumination is enabled in every mode on both consoles, while Ray-Traced Specular Reflections are available in Balanced and Fidelity on PS5 and in all modes on PS5 Pro. The studio is also expanding strand-based hair on the stronger console, with Edward using it in every mode and crowd characters getting it in Fidelity mode and cinematics.

Beyond the console tuning, Black Flag Resynced leans hard on a more reactive Caribbean. Ubisoft said its Atmos system simulates weather variables in real time, while the water has been rebuilt around physically based rendering, tessellation, volumetric foam, and dynamic bubbles. That should matter most when storms hit, ships cut through rough seas, and combat spills across the deck.

That lines up with Ubisoft’s earlier comments that the remake was pushing PS5 Pro hard. The end result looks less like a nostalgia trip and more like a full rebuild aimed at modern hardware.
