Hearts of Iron IV’s hotfix cleans up a Spain civil war crash and a missing DLC icon

Paradox also said most of the crashes it is seeing right now are tied to mods, and it is already lining up 1.19.1 for early next week.

Paradox pushed out Hotfix 1.19.0.1 for Hearts of Iron IV on June 12, 2026, and the update goes straight at two problems that were showing up in the wild. One fix targets a crash tied to the Spanish civil war turning into a four-way civil war while the new Army HQ feature is active. The other corrects the TaoG DLC icon in the main menu so it lights up properly when the DLC is unlocked.

Paradox also said telemetry shows most of the other crashes players are running into right now are tied to mods. If you are certain you are not playing without mods and still hit a crash, the studio wants those reports sent through the crash reporter tool so it can keep working on the issue.

Balance is also on the studio’s radar. Paradox said it is looking into player concerns around balance and stat bloat, and it acknowledged a rare case where command ability cost was being reduced by the general planning skill. That behavior was not intended, and the studio said it will be reverted in 1.19.1.

Paradox is already working on 1.19.1 and 1.19.2. The studio said 1.19.1 is planned for early next week, with 1.19.2 coming not long after that.

Hearts of Iron IV Hotfix 1.19.0.1 Patch Notes

Here are the official notes for the hotfix, which keep the focus on stability and a menu fix.

  • Fixed a CTD when Army HQ units were destroyed in combat under specific conditions (risks happening in, for example, a 4-way Spanish civil war).
  • Main menu icon for TaoG now correctly shows ownership.
