Sony will host its annual summer State of Play on June 2, and the event already has a strong case for drawing a bigger audience than usual. The February 2026 broadcast still leads the pack with 3.4 million views.
The timing helps. Sony announced the show weeks ahead of schedule, which is not typical for State of Play, and it will also beam the pre-recorded presentation into theaters across parts of the United States.
The hour-long stream will open with Marvel’s Wolverine, which is enough on its own to pull a lot of attention. It also lands in the middle of the Summer Game Fest period, when a lot of players are already watching for big news from the industry.
That combination gives Sony a real chance to clear its previous mark. Even with viewers spread across trailers, social media, and co-streams, the June 2 show has more momentum behind it than a standard State of Play.
