Battlestate Games confirmed on May 8, 2026 that Escape from Tarkov will get its first core season in July. The debut season is called Kord Breach, and it will center on the Black Division faction while opening a new seasonal path alongside the game’s regular characters.
That fits the post-1.0 plans Battlestate has been sketching out since launch week, including the seasonal direction in Nikita Buyanov’s post-1.0 update.
During the TarkovTV broadcast, Battlestate outlined how the system will work. Players will be able to create a seasonal character, then choose from a mix of positive and negative modifiers when a new season begins. Buyanov also joked that the studio has “thousands of years” of seasons ahead, a tongue-in-cheek way of saying this is meant to be a chain of seasons rather than a one-time event.
The screenshots shown during the broadcast suggest seasons will last at least 74 days.
Battlestate described the setup as having an RPG-like feel, with the modifiers shaping how each run plays from the start. Kord Breach will also bring new clothing lines built around Black Division outfits, which players had been asking for since the faction was shown last year.
Tarkov’s seasonal structure is a big change for a game built around hard resets and long grinds. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.
