ARC Raiders’ PS5 Pro Visual Boost Lands on Today
Update 1.26 will add upgraded PSSR support for PS5 Pro players on April 28, while the standard PS5 version keeps using TSR upscaling.
ARC Raiders will get a PS5 Pro image-quality boost on April 28, when update 1.26 adds upgraded PSSR support to Embark Studios’ shooter.
A new PlayStation Blog post says the update should deliver a sharper image with less flicker and shimmer. It also says the new PSSR path will handle motion more cleanly, with better reconstruction for things like swaying foliage and drones moving at speed.
The same post says ghosting artifacts and translucent effects will be cut down, and that rain should look cleaner after the update. Embark Studios engine lead Robert Kihl said the “improved PSSR brings significant improvements to image quality, especially in challenging scenarios with many small details in motion.” The standard PS5 version will continue to use TSR upscaling.
Embark has also been busy on other fronts, including a rethink of the skill tree after the studio said the current version falls short. For PS5 Pro players, though, April 28 is the date to watch.
