Apex Legends rolls out a small April 8 tune-up with Wild Card and Vortex Shield fixes
Respawn pushed the update live on April 8, 2026, with Bot Royale Evolved, Wild Card text, and several projectile interaction changes.

Respawn pushed a new Apex Legends update to the game on April 8, 2026, and this one is a focused cleanup pass rather than a sweeping balance overhaul. The patch fixes Bot Royale Evolved on E-District, sorts out Wildcard event prompts in every language, brings back the Energy Efficient Wild Card, and changes how Vortex Shield interacts with several tactical and ultimate projectiles.
Patch Notes
This update mainly targets mode stability, localization, and a few ability interactions that could create odd fights. The biggest gameplay change is the Vortex Shield adjustment, which now blocks less of the listed projectiles while Vantage’s ultimate is now affected by it.
FIXED
-Bot Royale Evolved matches on E-District should now start as intended
-Wildcard event prompts are now appropriately displayed in all languages
-“Energy Efficient” Wild Card has been re-enabled
ADJUSTED
The following tactical and ultimate projectiles can no longer be caught by the Vortex Shield:
-Bangelore’s tactical
-Bangelore’s ultimate
-Catalyst’s tactical
-Caustic’s ultimate
-Gibby’s ultimate
-Sparrow’s tactical
Vantage’s ultimate is now affected by the Vortex Shield.
