Road to Vostok hits Steam early access with strong early numbers
The solo-made survival shooter reached more than 5,000 peak concurrent players and picked up a Very Positive rating shortly after launch.

Road to Vostok arrived on Steam in early access today, giving the solo-made survival shooter its biggest public release yet. The project has spent years in development, with the developer steadily updating the game through demos, an engine change, and other major revisions along the way.
Built as a first-person shooter with survival systems, extraction-style elements, a trader system, and a day-night cycle, Road to Vostok has already drawn thousands of players. Steam numbers pushed past 5,000 peak concurrent players, and the game is sitting at a Very Positive rating from early buyers.
The setup is familiar to anyone who has spent time around extraction shooters, but Road to Vostok is not trying to copy Escape from Tarkov beat for beat. It is a single-player game for now, set in a border zone between Finland and Russia, where players have to manage food, water, health, and a hideout while pushing through different areas.
The end goal is to reach Vostok itself, a permadeath zone packed with tougher enemies and better loot. Surviving the trip back to the hideout is part of the loop, and that harsh structure is a big reason the game keeps drawing Tarkov comparisons, even if the actual design leans in its own direction.
Road to Vostok on Steam is also priced at $15 at the time of writing, which seems to have helped early reception. Many of the first Steam reviews point to the progress made since earlier demos, the stability of the build, and the price as the main reasons for the strong response. If you have been waiting for a lower-cost solo survival shooter with Tarkov-style tension, this one looks like it has landed well out of the gate.
