Hytale founder says mining “is not good enough” and outlines thousands of improvements

Simon Collins-Laflamme, founder of Hypixel Studios, posted on X on January 15, 2026 that the studio has “gathered thousands of feedback inputs” since Hytale entered early access and that most of those items will be addressed in coming weeks and months.

Collins-Laflamme called out the game’s Mining specifically as an area he is not happy with. He said he wants mining to feel more satisfying and asked players for suggestions. The founder named a few directions the team is already considering, including giving pickaxes a signature ability and improving the sounds and visuals tied to mining.

In one post Collins-Laflamme wrote that the studio has a pipeline of quick wins and quality of life fixes, and that the art team will be expanded “ASAP” to add “lots of new avatar options.” The founder framed these moves as part of a broader plan to act on the player feedback they’ve collected.

On the topic of Mining he posted again that he wants improvements and solicited ideas. His words were direct: “I need suggestions to make mining in Hytale more satisfying / fun! I’m not happy with it, finding ores or strip mining is not good enough. I’m considering adding signature ability to pickaxes + improving the sounds / visuals of mining.

Collins-Laflamme and Hypixel Studios launched Hytale into early access on January 13, 2026. The studio has already said pre-purchases have covered roughly two years of early access development costs, and the game drew large streaming audiences on its first day. For context on the launch and player numbers see reporting that Hytale expected over one million players at early access launch.

Beyond mining and avatar options, the studio flagged a wide set of fixes labeled as quality of life, quick wins, and other updates that will roll out while Hytale remains in early access. Players are being asked to share feedback directly with the team; Collins-Laflamme and the studio are collecting that input via social channels and in-game forms. Hytale entered early access on January 13, 2026 and the team is publicly collecting and acting on player feedback as the game develops.
