Hytale Director Will Pay $15,000 for the First Hard-Mode Gobliterator Kill

Hytale's Chapter 1 update arrives October 12, while the winning streamer must defeat the three-phase boss solo in hard and hardcore modes without armor, potions, glitches, or creative mode.

Hytale’s Chapter 1 update will arrive in early access on October 12, and director Simon Collins-Laflamme will donate $15,000 to the first streamer who defeats the Gobliterator under a strict set of rules. The winning attempt must be completed in hard mode and hardcore mode, played solo, and streamed with a viewable VOD.

Gobliterator is a new dedicated boss with three phases. Chapter 1 will also add new areas, including a huge underground cave filled with acid rivers and waterfalls, while the trailer shows the hulking goblin using charging attacks and heavy punches.

The Gobliterator challenge leaves little room for shortcuts

Streamers must defeat the boss solo in hardcore mode without armor, potions, glitches, or creative mode. Iron weapons available through Exploration Mode are allowed, but the other restrictions remove most safety nets from the fight.

The run must be legitimate from start to finish, so players cannot use creative mode to reach the boss or bypass the intended challenge. Streaming is another requirement, and the public VOD will give the Hytale team a way to verify the attempt before awarding the money.

Collins-Laflamme said he will provide a full rules rundown before Chapter 1 launches to address possible loopholes. The offer also appears to extend beyond the cash prize. After potential challengers said they did not own Hytale, Collins-Laflamme replied with “Done, check DM”, suggesting that he was sending game keys to interested participants.

Would you attempt the $15,000 challenge under these restrictions, or would hardcore mode make the risk too high? Share your pick and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, Telegram.
