World of Warcraft housing Early Access arrives this week with tutorials, plot reservations and rules for lapsed homes

Housing Early Access in World of Warcraft arrives with the weekly reset this week, Tuesday for North America and Wednesday for EU realms, and Blizzard has published a starter walkthrough to help players jump straight in. The developer’s overview, led by Jay Hwang who is Design Lead for Housing decoration, runs through the whole onboarding loop: the auto-popup quest that kicks off the Housing tutorial, the new Housing icon in the micro-menu, how to pick a neighborhood and purchase a plot, and the basics of decorating and collection.

Players on fresh characters will be surprised by how fast they can reach the feature. After a couple of Exile’s Reach quests the tutorial prompt appears and it is possible to portal into neighborhoods and browse plots right away. If a plot is available, it is held for you for five minutes after you port to it so you have time to decide without losing it to someone else. The guide covers relocation rules too, including moving houses after leaving a guild, and explains how decor budgets, advanced mode, and house leveling work. Blizzard also clarifies cross-character access: you can visit and decorate both your houses, one per faction, from any character on that faction.

One practical detail many will want to know is what happens when a subscription lapses. After a period described as “long enough” your home or homes go into storage, and the original plot becomes available to other players. Resubscribe, and you can place stored houses on a new plot, similar to how plot changes already work. For those who prefer to hear it from the team, Blizzard posted an official video walkthrough with Jay Hwang that answers common community questions and shows the UI and neighborhood flow in action. Watch Blizzard’s Housing Guide for the full demo, playthrough, and Q&A.

Blizzard’s video is a short primer more than a technical manual, but it gives enough detail that most players should be able to reserve a plot, place their first decorations and understand the subscription fallback within minutes of arriving.

Angel Kicevski

I've spent half of my life playing video games, ever since the competitive 1.6 era. Now I am happily married to Margarita Kicevski, and have two beautiful children. My goal is to deliver fresh news and updates, but most of the time I want to work on guides. Since I have rebooted this website, I am planning on making it huge. Just you wait!
