Original Dead Space Creator Says He’s ‘Making Calls’ About Dead Space 4

Glen Schofield says he has ideas for a new Dead Space and is already “making calls” to see if the project can move forward. He remarked in a recent IGN interview, where he framed the pitch around a clear plan and potential cost savings.

I have quite a few ideas that I’m ready to go with, and one of them is Dead Space 4. The fact that EA just got bought, I think there’s an opportunity. I’m already making calls.

I went to [EA] recently and they’re like no, we’re not interested anymore. I said, I can get back the leadership team. I need the models from EA Motive [Dead Space Remake creator] and I can save you 30 to 40 million dollars on the idea that I have. And, they’re like, ‘no.’

Schofield previously revealed that EA turned down a proposal for Dead Space 4 last year. The creator said he has concepts ready to go and believes a change in EA ownership could open new possibilities. In the interview, Schofield said he could cut development costs by roughly $30 to $40 million if EA provided Motive’s models. He also described a recent visit to EA in which executives rejected his pitch. A report covering that exchange is available here.

Schofield noted the recent $55 billion sale of EA as a possible turning point for ownership of the Dead Space rights. For now, public plans appear paused. Whether Dead Space 4 moves beyond talk will depend on rights, resources, and who holds the IP. Readers can follow ongoing coverage, including a deeper look at Schofield’s broader career here. Share your thoughts on the idea and what you would want from another entry in the series.
