Minecraft’s Copper Age update is now live, bringing shelves and a new tidy-minded mob called the Copper Golem that will collect your clutter and even create a copper chest for storage. It also introduces copper oxidation, which affects weapons, armor, and golems unless you treat them.
Shelves are the humble but welcome addition here. Players have long improvised shelving solutions, so having a proper shelf block finally in the game feels sensible. It’s a small thing that makes decorating and organizing your base a bit tidier. The headline feature is the Copper Golem. You make one by popping a pumpkin on top of a copper block. These friendly mobs will collect loose items near them and sort them into a copper chest they can create, helping to keep your bases less chaotic. If you like the idea of an oxidizing Roomba, this is it.
There is a tradeoff to copper, though. Any weapons, armor, or golems made from copper will oxidize over time. You can stop oxidation by waxing copper items, or you can remove oxidation by hitting them with an axe. Waxing will preserve the look, while an axe will strip oxidation away, giving you options to control how your copper gear looks and behaves.
