It was announced today that Red Dead Redemption 2 officially had the single-largest opening week in the entire entertainment industry. RDR 2 had the biggest launch ever, after selling something over $725 million in its first three days. In the list, it comes right after Grand Theft Auto V, which was released in 2013.
Even though $725 is quite a big number, GTAV moves past RDR 2 with more than 33% of their sales. But this is not that important, because RDR 2 has the title of the largest weekend entertainment launch of all-time.
This is also big news for Sony Interactive Entertainment because according to SIE, Red Dead Redemption 2 had the highest number of PSN pre-orders and highest day one digital sale. It has a Metacritic score of 97, which makes it one of the most critically-acclaimed games of this generation.
