Renown launches in Steam Early Access today. The multiplayer medieval survival arrives after a successful Kickstarter and a string of community playtests, bringing 100-player servers where building, crafting, and large-scale sieges are central to gameplay.
Renown blends hand-to-hand combat with survival mechanics, asking players to scavenge and craft every camp and piece of gear before they can field siege engines or raise a keep. Matches run on sprawling maps with room for a full hundred players, which can result in one-on-one duels early on, coordinated hunts in mid-game, and full-on warfare once castles and alliances form.
The project Kickstarted in May 2024 and has held multiple playtests as it moved toward launch. Combat leans into swords, axes and polearms, while crafting underpins progression. Builders can erect walls and siege towers, then attempt to take other players’ holdings through coordinated assaults.
A trailer is available for a quick look at the scale and combat style.
Players on PC can grab the game on Steam, where Renown is available in Early Access. The Steam store page lists system requirements and additional details about servers and support. The title arrives while Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is getting attention for its single-player offering, but Renown aims at a different audience with its multiplayer focus and emergent player-driven warfare. Who will end up ruling those castles?
Will this matter to players who like medieval games and survival? If large-scale PvP and base building are appealing, Renown could be precisely the kind of sandbox to get stuck into.
