A Mists of Pandaria Classic hotfix from Blizzard Entertainment on September 12, 2025 changes the Heroic Sha of Fear transition in World of Warcraft. The update expands which cooldowns the Fading Light buff resets, letting groups enter Phase 2 with more defensive and offensive options and helping raids that were marginal on earlier pulls.
The Sha of Fear encounter moves into a heroic-only Phase 2 where players receive the Fading Light buff, which restores health and should reset cooldowns. Players reported the buff wasn’t resetting many important cooldowns, and the hotfix specifically targets that gap. The official change appears in Blizzard’s hotfix notes, which list a large set of spells added to the reset. The hotfix text is linked to the official hotfix post for reference.
The update will affect fights on the Terrace of Endless Spring, where Heroic Sha of Fear currently has a low clear rate. The patch expands the reset to include many defensive and offensive abilities used by tanks, healers, and damage dealers, so guilds that were close on a kill should find it easier to secure it. The change may shift how groups plan their opener to Phase 2 and how they budget major cooldowns for the pull. For reading on the fight itself, consult the Sha of Fear Encounter Guide.
