Capcom‘s Resident Evil games built on the RE Engine are reportedly being ported to Switch 2, a leaker said on September 9, 2025, and native versions would replace earlier cloud releases, which would broaden player access.
A leaker known as “Dusk Golem” posted on ResetEra and on social channels, claiming every RE Engine title is headed to Switch 2, linking the move to recent PS5 ratings and anniversary timing. The report names Resident Evil 7, the remake, and the upcoming Resident Evil: Requiem explicitly, and suggests that a lineup of ports could be prepared in tandem with other anniversary activities.
The claim cites the more expansive Resident Evil catalogue. It states that ports will run natively on Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, rather than relying on streaming, a notable distinction for handheld play. Dusk Golem listed specific entries, including Resident Evil Village and the remakes such as Resident Evil 2, and said Requiem is part of the plan. Dusk Golem suggested at least one of the ports could appear during a rumoured Nintendo Direct this week, tying recent PS5 ratings to Capcom’s anniversary activity. However, that portion was described as conjecture.
One short quote from the leaker summed the claim up plainly: “Yee, they’ve been working on porting all the RE Engine Resident Evil games to Nintendo Switch 2 for a hot minute now.” Proper ports, not streaming.
The leaker also cautioned they didn’t have deep visibility into Capcom’s marketing calendar, and said the Nintendo Direct mention is only a grapevine rumor. If correct, the shift from cloud-only versions previously hosted on the original Switch to native Switch 2 builds would change how those games perform on a handheld console and what buyers can expect when titles arrive.
(1/2) Yee, they've been working on porting all the RE Engine Resident Evil games to Nintendo Switch 2 for a hot minute now. Requiem should be landing on Nintendo Switch 2 as well. There's grapevine rumor that there's a Nintendo Direct this week & RE7 is going to be there at least https://t.co/fQw5WBjDXz
