Starfield might be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2026, if a recent leak holds true. This would be quite a surprise considering the game’s scale and Bethesda’s history with Nintendo platforms.
Leaker Nate The Hate shared on social media that besides landing on PlayStation 5, Starfield is planned for release on the Nintendo Switch 2. His exact words were, “Indiana Jones & the Great Circle won’t be the only Bethesda game coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. See that planet? You can go there.”
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was officially confirmed for the Switch 2 during Gamescom Opening Night Live, but no specific release date beyond next year was given. So, maybe Bethesda and Microsoft are quietly preparing to bring Starfield to Nintendo’s new hardware as well.
Right now, all we have is Nate’s tweet. It’s unclear if the Switch 2 version will launch with the Shattered Space expansion or the rumored second expansion expected in spring 2026. That expansion might add even more content to the game, which could be overwhelming on a portable device.
Interestingly, a recent data mine hinted that real-time interplanetary travel could be added in a future update. Could that feature be part of the Switch 2 release? It’s hard to say, but it raises questions about how much of Starfield’s experience will be available on the new console.
Bringing such a vast space RPG to a handheld might be a tall order, right? But maybe that’s what they were going for. Nintendo Switch 2’s hardware specs haven’t been fully detailed yet, so it might handle it better than expected.
