Battlefield 2042 just got a surprise update, version 1.74/1.000.077, packed with fresh content. It’s a timely drop since the Battlefield 6 beta ended, and players might be craving more action before October. The patch adds new weapons, vehicles, and a brand-new map from World War II for free.
Players who installed the patch have spotted new guns and air vehicles already. A datamine by temporyal confirmed the inclusion of the Iwo Jima map from Battlefield V, which is playable in a new playlist focusing on World War II. The leaked description says: “Return to 1942 on Iwo Jima in this limited time Breakthrough mode with World War 2 weapons and soldiers.” Kind of wild, right? You get to go into a WWII setting right inside Battlefield 2042.
Check out some of the new gear players found post-update:
Lynx, F2000, Warthog & Frogfoot are in the game after the update, no unlock criteria visible yet however

Besides new weapons and vehicles, PAX Armata cosmetics showed up in the in-game store. That faction is from Battlefield 6, so it’s a neat way for DICE to connect both games. While no official full changelog is out yet, we’re expecting DICE to share it soon. Until then, players can enjoy this fresh WWII twist and new gear in Battlefield 2042.
Regarding Battlefield 6, the beta’s end doesn’t mean the fun stops. Rumors say EA wants to release a new Battlefield game every year for the next 5-6 years. Plus, recent leaks confirm large-scale maps will be part of Battlefield 6’s launch, so map size worries from the beta might not be a big deal.
Curious what you think about the Iwo Jima map coming to Battlefield 2042?
