Wuchang: Fallen Feathers just received its most significant update yet on consoles, bringing patch 1.5 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This update follows the PC patch 1.5 from earlier this week and introduces a range of fixes and gameplay adjustments aimed at smoothing out the experience.
Leenzee, the developer, tackled both technical bugs and balance tweaks to make the game more enjoyable. If you’ve been struggling with some of the combat or NPC issues, this patch might make things a bit easier… or at least less frustrating. Wondering what exactly changed? Let’s go through the details.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers PS5, Xbox Series X|S Update Now Live
Features / Bug Fixes
- Slightly adjusted invincibility frames during Wuchang’s get-up animation after being knocked down to stop players from getting hit unfairly while standing up.
- Healed animation sped up a bit, and you can now cancel recovery after drinking with a dodge, adding some strategy to healing.
- Various animation, value, and level design tweaks for NPCs and AI, including added dialogues to flesh out some storylines. Exhaustion animations will get more polish later.
- Fixed a faction bug in Chapter 4 and improved level design and BVB performance effects.
- Corrected dialogue order between Fang Yao and He Youzai to fix issues preventing certain endings like “Bound by Fate’s Threads” and “Dream’s Sweet Deceit.”
- Updated descriptions for some equipment and items, plus added or revised some audio lines and voices to round out the story.
- Fixed controller remapping issues where some buttons couldn’t be assigned.
- Resolved a bug where the Buddha statue could vanish from inventory if the game was force-quit after placing it in Chapter 1’s Palace Hill.
- Fixed combo problems with Benediction and Jade Pendant in New Game+ cycles.
- Addressed terrain issues that could trap players and reduced elevator waiting times. The elevator’s speed tripled while waiting, but the trip speed remains the same for now due to loading limits.
- Monsters’ impact resistance adjusted: early-stage enemies are easier to interrupt with light weapons, while later monsters can be suppressed with spells or weapon skills followed by light attack combos.
- Spike trap trigger intervals increased, and damage from landmines in Chapters 2 and 3 was reduced. Landmine numbers in Chapter 3 were also lowered.
- Preparations made for new weapons and armor sets coming with the Deluxe Edition, including traditional and ancient Wei/Jin dynasty armor.
- Game code optimized to allow future options for respawning at either the Shrine or Boss Fight Entrance after death.
- Asset specs improved to make picking up Red Mercury Essence more noticeable.
- Other minor fixes throughout.
Crash Fixes
- Fixed GPU crashes caused by semi-transparent assets in extreme cases.
- Resolved crashes from unnecessary rendering calls and GPU hangs in specific scenarios.
- Addressed a crash that could happen near the end of map loading due to animation blueprint concurrency.
- Additional minor crash fixes.
Leenzee mentioned they will keep refining the game based on player feedback, so more patches are expected down the line.
