Black Ops 7 Vault Edition Skins Leak, Keeping the Silly Skins Trend Alive

Call of Duty’s new Black Ops 7 Vault Edition skins have leaked, and if you were hoping for a break from the cartoony and silly skin trend, well, guess again. The leaked images show operator and weapon skins that look like they belong in a sci-fi fantasy rather than a grounded military shooter.

Old-school Call of Duty fans have been frustrated for a while now, seeing everything from WWE wrestlers to Beavis & Butthead, and even Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the game. Activision seems to want to mimic Fortnite’s vibe, which has made many players roll their eyes. And it’s not just crossover skins; even original cosmetics lean heavily into that cartoonish style, with pink weapons and soldier zombies popping up.

So what do the Vault Edition skins for Black Ops 7 look like? Thanks to COD Warfare sharing datamined images, we have a peek. One skin features what looks like a mechanical contraption strapped to the chest, while another could easily fit into a Star Wars game. It’s a far cry from the grounded, realistic style many players have been asking for. But hey, these skins sell, so Activision will probably keep pushing them.

For some perspective, Battlefield 6 is going a different route. Their character skins are much more toned down, preparing to stay “grounded” and “authentic to the franchise,” according to developers. Of course, that’s just the beta phase, and EA might still surprise us with some wild crossover skins later on. Money talks, right?

On another note, Activision confirmed that Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 will be mandatory for Black Ops 7 on PC. Also, a datamine has revealed a preliminary weapons list through COD HQ, giving us a glimpse of what to expect weapon-wise.

So yeah, if you were hoping for a more serious, realistic look in Black Ops 7, it looks like you might be out of luck. Why does it feel like every shooter has to copy Fortnite’s style these days? Yikes. But maybe that’s what sells, and we’ll have to live with it for now.
