Perfect World has updated the lineup for the CS Asia Championships 2025, now including MIBR as the tenth and final invited team. This change follows a reversion to the original slot allocation after some adjustments earlier this year. The tournament is scheduled for October 14-19 in Shanghai and carries a prize pool of $1 million.
Earlier announcements listed nine invited teams based on the July Valve Ranking System (VRS). Interestingly, FaZe was included despite being ineligible by rank for a tier-2 event, thanks to a Valve-approved exception granting a Wildcard invite for a former CAC champion. Now, the latest update removes China’s two qualifier slots, reallocating one of those to MIBR and the other to an Asian qualifier that covers four sub-regions: China, East Asia, Oceania, and Others.
It’s a bit of a climb for Perfect World to keep tweaking these invitations. Complexity General Manager Graham “messioso” Pitt voiced concerns on X about the changes happening without updating the VRS invite date, which should reflect the new slot assignments. He pointed out, “Your complete inaction is concerning. The precedent being set is even more so.” Why would a tournament organizer change slots without adjusting official dates? Guess they’re hoping it works out without causing too much fuss.
Prize money is split with $400,000 allocated to teams and $600,000 for organizations, making this event an attractive opportunity for those competing. With the updated team list now finalized, players and fans can look forward to seeing how MIBR performs alongside the other top contenders in Shanghai.
