Call of Duty’s New Cartoon Collab Has Fans Scratching Their Heads

Call of Duty’s latest Premium Event Pass introduces Beavis & Butt-Head, stirring mixed reactions.

Call of Duty recently revealed a new Premium Event Pass for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone that has caught many players off guard. The update includes characters from the classic cartoon Beavis & Butt-Head, alongside Coach Buzzcut and Todd Ianuzzi, all available as part of the themed Battle Pass or through standalone microtransactions starting July 5th.

Now, this is quite the departure from the franchise’s usual gritty, hyper-realistic military look. Call of Duty has long been known for its serious tone and lifelike art style, so seeing cartoon characters sprinting around with AK-47s feels… kinda out of place. The military versions of these characters come decked out with night-vision goggles and bulletproof vests, but it still feels like a strange fit.

Honestly, it’s a bit baffling. Why introduce these zany characters when the series has established its identity on a more grounded approach? It’s like mixing oil and water. Fortnite thrives on lively, pop-culture mashups, but Call of Duty feels like it’s trying to stretch into something it’s not.

Players have been pretty vocal about their disappointment online. One YouTube comment summed it up as, “This game doesn’t disappoint when it comes to disappointments.” Another fan joked that Call of Duty might as well add “Twilight Sparkle and Hello Kitty” because it’s “just No Build Fortnite with more realistic graphics.” Yikes.

What do you think? Are these kinds of collaborations a fun way to shake things up, or do they clash too much with what Call of Duty is all about? I’d love to hear your thoughts down in the comments below.
