Resident Evil Re:Verse Servers Officially Shut Down After Final Player Peak of 86

Capcom has taken Resident Evil Re:Verse offline following a steep decline in player numbers.

Capcom has officially switched off the servers for Resident Evil Re:Verse, marking the end of the game’s online life. The multiplayer title, which launched in 2022, centered on characters and enemies from the iconic franchise but failed to maintain a steady player base. Its final day saw a peak of just 86 players, a stark contrast to its initial launch numbers.

The game kicked off with some promise, offering various modes including traditional Team Deathmatch and some fresh twists on multiplayer gameplay. Capcom aimed to create a distinct experience for fans of the series, but Resident Evil Re:Verse struggled to build momentum. After a strong start with over 2,000 players in the first month, the player count rapidly dropped to under 100, and it never recovered afterward.

Capcom announced back in February that the service would end, stating, “Thank you for playing Resident Evil: ReVerse. This is to inform you that the service for Resident Evil: ReVerse will be ending…The application and all of its DLC will no longer be available for download or purchase.” True to their word, the servers went offline on June 29, and the game has since been removed from purchase on Steam.

Examining the numbers, the initial enthusiasm quickly waned, and a combination of limited content and aggressive monetization tactics turned many players away. Even a slight uptick to 86 players on the final day can’t hide the fact that the game struggled for relevance. It feels like a missed chance for Capcom to deliver a solid multiplayer experience in the Resident Evil universe.
