Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5070 Founders Edition cards are making us wait a bit longer. Originally expected to launch with its siblings, the Founders Edition won’t hit shelves until later this month. If you were hoping to snag one right away, well, you’ll need some patience!
The news broke from Nvidia’s GeForce global PR director, Ben Berraondo, in an email to The Verge. He confirmed that the Founders Edition will be available “later in March.” Meanwhile, if you’re itching for a new card, third-party options from brands like Asus and MSI will launch on March 5th. So it’s not a total drought!
This isn’t the first hiccup for the RTX 5070 series, either. Nvidia had already pushed back the initial launch date from February 28th. There seem to be some hurdles along the way, like those pesky manufacturing issues with the RTX 5090 and 5070 Ti that left some cards without crucial render output units (ROPs). Talk about a bummer.
As for those looking to grab an RTX 5070 at MSRP come March 5th, Berraondo listed several manufacturers ready to roll: Asus, Colorful, Gainward, GALAX, Gigabyte, INNO3D, KFA2, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac.
When Nvidia initially revealed the 5070, it boasted performance levels akin to those of the $1,599 RTX 4090. However, early tests don’t seem to back that up entirely. With mixed reviews swirling around and now this delayed launch for the Founders Edition, it’s shaping up to be quite a rocky start for Nvidia’s latest lineup.
