Big news on the horizon for all you Baldur’s Gate 3 fans out there. Larian Studios has just dropped confirmation about a Patch 8 stress test scheduled for the end of January 2025, and trust me.
This stress test will be available for players on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. The devs want you to help them break things, yes, you heard that right! They are looking to put the new features through their paces before rolling out the patch. Plus, there’s a shiny new cross-play feature that players can try out during this testing phase.
Cross-Play Feature Incoming
If you’re itching to try out cross-play in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll need to invite your friends via the Larian Network. Whether you’re gaming on Xbox, PlayStation, or PC, jump in together! Just a heads up for our Mac users, it looks like you’ll have to wait a bit longer. You won’t be able to participate in this round but don’t worry; you’ll get those cross-play features when the full update launches.
How to Register for the Stress Test
If you’re eager to take part in this exciting opportunity, head over to Larian’s website and sign up ASAP! Xbox players must also download the Xbox Insider Hub App and become an Insider. Once everything kicks off, you’ll be able to playtest directly from there!
What’s New in Patch 8?
Apart from cross-play madness, there are some cool features coming with Patch 8! A brand-new photo mode is being added—imagine snapping epic moments during your adventures. The developers even shared some images highlighting what this feature can do in their blog post. Oh! And if you’re a fan of character customization, there’s more: each of the twelve classes is getting a new subclass which should really shake things up when it comes down to gameplay styles!
As if that wasn’t enough excitement: in other news from Larian Studios, they’ve redirected their focus towards their next project after pouring so much passion into Baldur’s Gate 3.
