NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 is coming out on January 30. The new GPU is considered to be around 30-40% faster than its predecessor, the RTX 4090 and the claims are based on preliminary results and will need further testing once the hardware becomes available.
The tests utilized an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D with 32GB of DDR5 RAM running at 6000MHz, Windows 10 and the GeForce driver version 566.14. Founder’s Edition (FE) of the RTX 4090 was used for these benchmarks to ensure accurate comparisons without overclocking variables that third-party cards might introduce.
Frame Chasers provided gameplay footage from Black Myth: Wukong, showing that without DLSS 4 the RTX 5090 achieved a frame rate of 29 FPS while the RTX 4090 managed only 21 FPS. This indicates a performance improvement of approximately 38%.
A similar approach was taken with Cyberpunk 2077 where NVIDIA’s video indicated that at native resolution with Path Tracing enabled, the RTX 5090 delivered 27 FPS, compared to just 20 FPS for the RTX 4090 resulting in a roughly 35% increase in performance.
