If you’ve ever wished to see your favorite PlayStation 4 titles make their way to PC, grab your popcorn because we’ve got some exciting news. The shadPS4 emulator is flexing its muscles and officially launching iconic games like inFAMOUS Second Son, KILLZONE Shadow Fall, KNACK, and even the less-than-stellar Godzilla.
The PlayStation 4 emulator scene has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. Just a few months back, getting any substantial game running was akin to trying to wrestle a greased pig at the county fair, slippery and downright frustrating. But here we are, witnessing shadPS4 making serious strides. Below are two videos showcasing these launches:
- Godzilla – PS4 Emulator / Ingame (Shadps4 v0.4.1 WIP)
- ShadPS4 Progress The Last Guardian | December 2024
Now, before you get too excited, let’s temper those expectations. Most of these games aren’t exactly playable yet, think of them as teetering toddlers taking their first steps rather than seasoned marathon runners. Most can’t even get past the title screen without crashing into oblivion.
The exception? That infamous Godzilla game! Sure, it may not have been critically acclaimed. Still, as someone who grew up watching giant monsters wreak havoc on Tokyo, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t itching to experience it at glorious 60FPS in 4K resolution, complete with all the nostalgic music from my childhood dreams.
If we’re looking ahead, there’s hope for The Last Guardian. Despite its previous graphical hiccups that looked more like abstract art than gameplay, things are looking up; performance seems to have improved significantly since last we checked.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this gem becomes one of the next big successes on shadPS4’s roadmap while they continue to tackle other niche titles like Godzilla along the way, though let’s face it: that game won’t be at the top of their priorities.
