Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Hotfix #42 Patch Notes

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Hotfix #42 (1.4.2) has dropped on Steam and will be available on other platforms shortly. As always, there’s a brief period post-release before the old servers are disconnected and players transition to the new ones.

Without further ado, the full list of patch notes can be found below:

Combat Updates

Shooters

  • Reverting Shooter Changes from Patch 1.4.0:
    • Scab Shooters now have a tighter shot spread, increasing their threat at range.
    • Scab/Dreg shooters will stay in cover longer and reduce the cooldown between sprays, enhancing the threat but also making player suppression weapons more viable.

Developer Note: Some enemy changes from the previous patch were too oppressive, hence the rollback.

General Adjustments

  • Increased Close Range Distance:
    • Changed from 8m to 12.5m.

Developer Note: The initial change in Patch #13 was intended but deemed too drastic. The new 12.5m range is seen as a balanced increase.

Weapons Tweaks

Tigrus Mk XV Heavy Eviscerator

  • Windup Timings Adjustments:
    • Heavy 1 chained from Light 2/Heavy 2: 0.76 to 0.65
    • Heavy 2 chained from Light 1/Heavy 1: 0.85 to 0.65
    • Heavy 2 chained from Light 3/push follow-up: 0.6 to 0.4

Developer Note: Aligning and shortening windup timings to reward chaining attacks.

Artemia Mk III Purgation Flamer

  • Power Distribution Increase:
    • Primary burst: (10,20) to (15,30)
    • Secondary continuous: (30,50) to (60,100)

Developer Note: Damage scales with distance and time inside the cloud.

Ogryn Pickaxes

  • Normalised Attack Ranges:
    • Adjusted timing for specific attacks to match animations.
Branx Pickaxe
  • Reduced Light 1 attack reach.
  • Improved reach for Light 2, Light 3, Heavy 1 attacks.
  • Greatly improved reach for Push follow-up attack.
Borovian Pickaxe
  • Improved reach for Light 1, Light 2, Light 3 attacks.
  • Greatly improved reach for Heavy 1, Heavy 2 attacks.
Karsolas Pickaxe
  • Improved reach for Light 1, Light 2, Light 3, Light 4, Light special follow-up, Heavy special follow-up attacks.
  • Greatly improved reach for Heavy 1, Heavy 2 attacks.

Developer Note: Ensured consistent reach across all marks and attack types.

Missions Fixes

Clandestium Gloriana

  • Fixed valkyrie issue in outro cutscene.
  • Optimised various assets.
  • Addressed interaction issues with pickups under snow piles.
  • Fixed visual bugs during horizontal shuttle ride.
  • Corrected med kit and ammo box deployment on shuttle floor.
  • Resolved instant death zone before middle event.
  • Ensured side missions like grimoires and tomes count correctly.
  • Fixed bot pathing issues leading to falls.
  • Ensured enemies can reach players inside the elevator.

Excise Vault Spireside-13

  • Fixed wall unit collision issues.

Developer Note: Addressing pickup issues in bulk-lifter-32 in the next hotfix.

Enclavum Baross

  • Fixed missing VO lines at the mission’s end.

Additional Fixes

  • Memory-related stalls and crashes, especially with mods.
  • Tracking issues for penances mission types.
  • Non-functional Torment blessing on Branx Pickaxe special poke attack.
  • Crosshair settings not reverting to default.
  • Incorrect crosshair overrides for Force Staves.
  • Magistratum Bolt Pistol skin issues with line of sight and trinket crashes.
  • Keybind reassignment issues.
  • Heavy melee attacks being canceled by abilities.
  • Non-localised text for Psyker’s “Malefic Momentum”.
  • Various cosmetic and clipping issues.
  • Removed conflicting glass material in the Magistratum Riot Shield skin.

Developer Note: Fixed transparency conflicts with visual effects.

Branx Pickaxe

  • Light 1 range mod: 1.25 to 1.2
  • Light 1 damage window start: 12/30 to 10/30
  • Light 2 range mod: 1.25 to 1.55
  • Light 3 range mod: 1.25 to 1.35
  • Light 3 damage window end: 22/30 to 24/30
  • Heavy 1 range mod: 1.5 to 1.6
  • Push follow-up range mod: 2 to 2.5

Borovian Pickaxe

  • Light 1 range mod: 1.25 to 1.45
  • Light 1 damage window start: 9/30 to 12/30
  • Light 1 damage window end: 15/30 to 16/30
  • Light 2 range mod: 1.25 to 1.45
  • Light 3 range mod: 1.25 to 1.5
  • Heavy 1 range mod: 1.25 to 1.6
  • Heavy 2 range mod: 1.25 to 1.4

Karsolas Pickaxe

  • Light 1 range mod: 1.25 to 1.45
  • Light 1 damage window end: 15/30 to 16/30
