Pokemon GO World of Wonders: Taken Over featuring Shadow Mewtwo and Shadow Groudon

Pokemon GO World of Wonders: Taken Over event starts on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 12:00 AM and will last until Sunday, March 31, 2024, at 11:59 local time. The event will feature Shadow Mewtwo and Shadow Groudon.

The event will grant a new Special Research story, which will be available at the beginning of this event. Trainers can progress through it to receive a Super Rocket Radar and chase down Giovanni. Shadow Groundon and Shadow Mewtwo will be a part of this event, while Shadow Raikou will not appear.

World of Wonders: Taken Over

Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. to Sunday, March 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. local time

Save Shadow Groudon!

A new Special Research story will be available at the beginning of this event. Progress through it to receive a Super Rocket Radar and chase down Giovanni!

You can claim this Special Research up to the end of Pokémon GO: World of Wonders on June 1, 2024, at 9:59 a.m. local time.

Save Shadow Mewtwo!

Shadow Mewtwo will return to Pokémon GO in Shadow Raids.

Shadow Mewtwo will appear in five-star Shadow Raids from Saturday, March 30, 2024, to Sunday, March 31, 2024, local time.

Shadow Raikou will not appear during the event.

Eggs

The following Pokémon will hatch from 12 km Eggs. Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to hatch Shiny Sandile—if you’re lucky!

  • Larvitar*
  • Sandile*
  • Pawniard*
  • Vullaby*
  • Deino*
  • Pancham*
  • Salandit
  • Varoom
*If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny one!

Event bonuses

  • Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons.
  • You can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.

Shadow Pokémon

Team GO Rocket Grunts—as well as their leaders Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo—are using different Shadow Pokémon.

In addition, Team GO Rocket has also turned the following Pokémon into Shadow Pokémon. Defeat Team GO Rocket Grunts to save them!

Also, Pokémon rescued from Team GO Rocket Grunts may be Shiny Pokémon—if you’re lucky.

  • Shadow Gothita
  • Shadow Solosis

Shadow Raids

The following Pokémon will appear in Shadow Raids! Gyms not under Team GO Rocket control may still host other raids.

One-Star Raids

  • Shadow Drowzee*
  • Shadow Poliwag*
  • Shadow Barboach
  • Shadow Foongus

Three-Star Raids

  • Shadow Hitmontop
  • Shadow Wobbuffet
  • Shadow Sneasel*
*If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny one!

Field Research task encounters

Event-themed Field Research tasks will be available! Field Research rewards include the following.

  • Mysterious Components, Charged TMs, and Fast TMs.
  • Encounters with event-themed Pokémon.

Wild encounters

The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild.

  • Murkrow*
  • Sableye*
  • Purrloin*
  • Scraggy*
  • Inkay*

Some Trainers might even encounter the following!

  • Zorua*
  • Vullaby*
  • Deino*
*If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny one!

Timed Research

Event-themed Timed Research will be available throughout the event!

Complete the research tasks to earn items and encounters with event-themed Pokémon.

PokéStop Showcases

Be on the lookout for Showcases at different PokéStops during the event where you can enter event-themed Pokémon!

Paid Timed Research

For US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research focused on defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts.

Timed Research rewards include the following.

  • Six Mysterious Components
  • One Super Incubator
  • One Rocket Radar
  • An encounter with Pawniard

Please note that Timed Research expires. The tasks associated with this Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before Sunday, March 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. local time.

Trainers will be able to purchase and gift tickets to any of their Pokémon GO friends that they have achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with. Please note that purchases—including those made for other Trainers—are non-refundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Tickets cannot be purchased with PokéCoins.

Please note that the Timed Research ticket will only be available in the in-game shop until March 30, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. local time.

A Team GO Rocket Box will be available during the event for US$9.99, featuring seven Rocket Radars, seven Premium Battle Passes, seven Ultra Balls, and seven Silver Pinap Berries. Check it out in the Pokémon GO Web Store.

For 300 PokéCoins, you will get one Incubator, one Rocket Radar, and one Premium Battle Pass.
